About Me

JJ O’Donnell

Player-Kitman-Coach

December 19th 2014. The day disaster struck and footballing professionalism looked like it would be no more. Sesamoiditis (I know I had never heard of it either) had taken full control of my feet, well on that dreaded day it was one foot but as it was, the other foot would be struck down too.

A long process followed but 14 months later during my gruelling three-year injury rehabilitation I became the Gateshead Football Club kitman. 3 years on, the shirts, shorts and socks are still sorted out by me but now I am once again able to hang my own out ready to play. When rehabilitation first began, no football contract, no job and not much savings to fall back on, I needed to do something. JJ O’Donnell Elite Football Academy was born, a coaching company bridging the Sunday League to Academy football gap. I know one or two things about Academy football, 10 years of my childhood was spent in them.
